An Eitzen Chemical tanker ran aground in Spanish waters on Tuesday morning. The Sichem Colibri grounded in the mouth of the Guadalquivir river Tuesday morning as it headed for Seville with a pilot on board, Tradewinds reported. According to a separate maritime source, the Sichem Colibri is a 2001-built 3,592 dwt double-hulled chemical/products tanker group owned and registered to Eitzen Chemical.
A spokeswoman for the tanker's manager EMS Ship Management has been quoted saying that “all crew are safe and accounted for”.
She also said that all tanks were intact and there was no pollution.
The Sichem Colibri has P&I insurance from Britannia Steam Ship.
