GDP TO SHRINK BY 4.3% IN 2009, SAYS OECD

The Organisation for Economic Cooperation (OECD) expects the economy across OECD countries to contract by 4.3% in 2009 as the unemployment rate climbs sharply, according to its latest report. The sharpest fall for 2009 is predicted for Japan at -6.6%, with the EU at -4.1% and the US -4.0%. Growth in China is forecast at 6.3%.
