Another breakthrough for China's offshore ambitions

Shanghai: The first homemade large-scale lifting pipe laying offshore oil engineering ship formally delivered on 5th, July at Changxing island base of Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry. The president of Zhenhua Heavy Industry Guan Tongxian said the company has already got 4 overseas orders for this ship type.
As the highest-end ship in offshore oil engineering field, this type of ship can only be built in Holland, USA and Korea before.
“Hai Yang Shi You 202” is a large scale pipe laying lifting ship with 1200 tons heavy lifting capacity which is completely designed and build by China owned by CNOOC. The ship started construction in Feb.2008 only taking 17 months to complete. It is classed by CCS. [06/07/09]
