China nearly finished deepening upper stretch of the Yangtze

Shanghai: The administration of the waterway of the Yangtze River will lift the dredging depth of the last section of the trunk of the Yangtze river, namely, Wuhu-to-Nanjing, to enable larger ships to go through.
Xiong Xuebin, head of the authority, disclosed that the dredging depth of this section will increase from 7.5 meters to 9 meters in July-September and from 6 meters to 7.5 meters in other months effective from May this year. [03/03/09]
